Welcome to the Waive Your School’s Insurance Center!
This page is for those students who wish to opt-out (waive) out of the coverage under their school’s student insurance plan, and have the fee removed from their student account. The school’s student insurance plan can only be waived if the student has coverage under another acceptable insurance plan.
Submitting a waiver, is as easy as 123! The first step to waive out of your school’s student insurance coverage is to verify that you are a “hard waiver†student.
In order to complete the waiver, you will need the following:
- Your current health insurance plan ID card
- Your health insurance brochure or plan description.
Prior to beginning the waiver process, please check to make sure that your insurance meets the minimum requirements as listed below.

*For students attending the Geisinger campus, coverage must be in effect for the Danville area (in place of the Philadelphia area). For students participating in distance learning, coverage must be in effect for your area of permanent residence.
**If your insurance will not be in effect for the entire academic year due to a life change event, you may qualify for a partial waiver during the period that your insurance will cover, and will later have to enroll in the school-sponsored insurance plan for the remainder of the academic year.
Please note that full-time international students, including but not limited to those in F-1 or J-1 status, do NOT qualify for a waiver. Full-time international students must enroll in the school-sponsored insurance plan.
The University reserves the right to audit all waivers in order to ensure compliance with the University insurance requirements. Please be sure to retain a copy of your insurance policy as you may be asked to provide this documentation.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you have completed the waiver request form, a confirmation will automatically be sent to the email address you provided. The confirmation email will notify you of the status of your waiver request, with either an approved or pending status.
