Welcome to the Student / Dependent Enrollment Center! We are here to help make enrolling as easy and as painless as possible.

We suggest you review the brochure for your rates, effective dates and coverage options before starting the enrollment process. The plan’s benefits can be found in the brochure within the Schedule of Benefits section with the exclusions towards the back.

2013 – 2014 School Year

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Open Enrollment Periods for all Dependents and Students: If you have eligible Dependents in the fall or, are a student in the fall semester and eligible to purchase coverage and you choose not to enroll for coverage before the Fall Enrollment Deadline of *September 25, 2013, your Dependents or you, will not be eligible to enroll again until the start of next fall unless you experience a “Life Status” change during the year. A life status change includes marriage, divorce, birth of a child or loss of coverage through no fault of your own (i.e. aging of your parents coverage).If your Dependents or you, experience a “Life Status” change, you must submit proof of the event and enroll within 30 Days of the event, otherwise you will no longer be eligible to enroll for the remainder of the policy year.

*For new Dependents or new Part-Time students in the spring semester, your open enrollment deadline is *January 31, 2014.

Undergraduate Full-Time Students

If you are a…

Full-time undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours regardless of credit hours you are automatically enrolled unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished to Widener University through the online Campus Cruiser WebAdvisor waiver process.

  • Spring/Summer Enrollment Deadline: 1/31/14

If you complete the online waiver process by the August 5th deadline, you will be  credited the insurance premium which is annually applied to your student statement of account. If you do not complete the online waiver process by the deadline, you will be automatically enrolled in the university student health insurance plan and a  non-refundable $30 late fee applied to your student account.

Graduate Full-Time Students

If you are a…

Compulsory graduate students (MSW, PT, MSN, PsyD & Psy.D/JD) regardless of credit hours you are automatically enrolled unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

  • Spring/Summer Enrollment Deadline: 1/31/14

Dependents

Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their Dependents. Eligible Dependents are the student’s spouse and dependent children under 26 years of age. Please see the Enrollment Instructions below.

Enrollment Instructions for Voluntary Students and Dependents

Voluntary Students Only! Have your credit card ready!  You can enroll yourself and your eligible dependents. If you are already enrolled and only need to enroll your dependents, you will not be able to use this method. You must enroll your dependents with an enrollment form or through My Account.  Instructions are listed below.

Hard Waiver and Voluntary Students: If you are already enrolled and only need to enroll your dependents, you will need to create a “My Account”.  Once you are logged in, you may enroll your dependents by clicking on the “Dependent Enrollment” button on the MyAccount page. This will allow you to enroll your dependents without being charged a second time for the student premium.

Voluntary Students and Dependents: Download an enrollment form and submit by mail using a check or money order. The mailing address is listed on the Enrollment Form.

Waive Your School’s Insurance


Welcome to the Waive Your School’s Insurance Center!
This page is for those students who wish to opt-out (waive) out of the coverage under their school’s student insurance plan, and have the fee removed from their student account. The school’s student insurance plan can only be waived if the student has coverage under another acceptable insurance plan.
Submitting a waiver, is as easy as 123! The first step to waive out of your school’s student insurance coverage is to verify that you are a “hard waiver” student.

2014 – 2015 School Year

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Open Enrollment Periods for all eligible Students and dependents: If you or your dependent is eligible to purchase the annual coverage and you choose not to enroll before the Annual Enrollment Deadline, you or your dependent will not be eligible to enroll again until the following school year unless you experience a “Qualifying Life Event” during the year

PLEASE NOTE: If you are an International student you are automatically enrolled in this insurance Plan at registration.

A Hard Waiver student for your school is:
Graduate student or an undergraduate student with a minimum of 12 credit hours
If this is you, then you would be considered a hard waiver student. Hard waiver students are required to have health insurance to attend Washington and Lee University. You must complete an on-line waiver or enroll in the University’s policy, by:
  • Annual Waiver Deadline: 8/31/14
  • Spring/Summer Waiver Deadline: 1/30/15

For those students who do not submit an approved waiver form before the deadline, you will be automatically charged and officially enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. Once enrolled, there are no refunds or cancelations. (Please note, automatic enrollment will occur AFTER the waiver deadline.)
After you verify that you are a hard waiver student and have other insurance, here’s what you will need:
  • Your current health insurance plan ID card;
  • Your health insurance brochure or plan description (or you might want mom & dad’s phone number handy to help answer some of the waiver questions.) There might be a few questions about your current plan.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you have completed the waiver form, an email will be sent automatically to the email address you provided, notifying you of the waiver request decision. If you receive a:
  • Pending e-mail – your insurance information is being verified and you should receive a second e-mail within a few days.
  • Approval e-mail – your waiver was approved. You should print this e-mail and save it with your records.
  • Denial e-mail – your waiver was denied. If you would like us to look this over or if you answered a question incorrectly, please contact RCM&D at (800) 346-4075.

(www.optumrx.com) for certain pharmacy benefit services including your mail order benefit.

The PDL includes most brand and generic medications approved by the FDA. Medications may be placed on different “tiers” based on their overall value, with Tier 1 being the most affordable tier option.
